Adapt Unbound USA 2025

Join the Tailwind team at AdaptUnbound 2025 in New York, NY on May 14-15, 2025!

More than 200 leaders and visionaries will convene in May 2025 to scale innovative solutions and unlock the critical capital needed to prepare, prevent, respond and recover from evolving climate risks. Whether through physical infrastructure or organisational attitude, preparation is the first step to building a more resilient world.

Katie MacDonald is an advisor to the conference and will be speaking on Thursday’s panel, “Heat Resilience: Tackling the Growing Threat of Urban Heat.” She’ll be speaking alongside Jason Glaser (CEO, La Isla Network) and Jack Wilson (Co-Founder, Eztia) to cover:

  • How are public and private entities mapping extreme heat and what challenges exist in understanding heat’s impact on urban spaces?
  • What are the health impacts of extreme heat in urban environments and how do we see these impacts manifesting for different people?
  • What considerations need to be made to make sure that those most vulnerable (people with preexisting health issues, high exposure, socio economic challenges, etc.) can be protected from extreme heat?
  • What are the most effective nature-based and technology-driven interventions to mitigate urban heat? What technological innovation and technological improvement are needed to scale viable solutions?
  • What role do public-private partnerships and community engagement play in creating sustainable heat reduction solutions in urban environments?

Brooke Zhang and Katie MacDonald will also be hosting a campfire session both days on “Adapting Together: Decoding Corporate Partnerships for A&R Startups”

  • This session focuses on understanding how startups and corporations can build more effective partnerships to scale adaptation and resilience solutions. We’ll discuss strategies for navigating corporate structures, identifying the right partnership channels within corporations, and which industries have the greatest / least appetite to work with A&R innovations in today’s political climate.
